The ArtsFaire focuses on a juried arts show wherein the jurors select participants exhibiting only the highest quality arts and crafts. Artists working in any of the listed categories below are eligible:
- Musical Instruments
The jury committee will review the images of each entrant and select the exhibitors. The following criteria will be taken into consideration: quality of work, originality, artistic design and marketability. Categories are limited. Once each category is full, a ranked wait list will be compiled, and those on the wait list will be offered spaces as they become available. Work must be original and executed by the exhibiting artist, who must be present during the show. No imported, kit, or commercial objects will be accepted. No T-shirts or caps with reproductions of art will be allowed.
Basic Requirements for Artists Applying to be juried into the Renaissance ArtsFaire:
- Apply to the Renaissance ArtsFaire via ZAPP
- NO PAPER APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
- Application/Jury Fee: $35.00, due upon application
- Application deadline June 30, 2013
- Payment Methods: Credit Card, Check, or PayPal only
- Paying for application by check. First apply via ZAPP and follow the payment instructions.
- Artists should submit five (5) images accurately depicting the work to be judged, including one (1) booth shot.
Awards: Cash awards for outstanding artistry, booth decoration and costume will be presented on Saturday afternoon. All award winners are also automatically accepted to the following year’s Faire and their jury fee is waived.

As with any large event, the key to success is a corps of dedicated volunteers and the RAF is a prime example. The Faire could not run without its volunteer work force and the Arts Council has a number of opportunities for individuals and organizations to help make the event a success. Since all proceeds go to support arts programs, this is an event worth your time and effort. Set-up and tear-down crews, gatekeepers, booth sitters, trash “trolls” and parking lot attendants are some of the specific needs the Arts Council has in order to keep the Faire operating every year. Renaissance ArtsFaire History
The Dona Ana Arts Council Renaissance ArtsFaire began in 1971 as the Holy Cross CraftFaire, held annually at the Holy Cross Retreat south of Mesilla Park, NM. The Faire was moved to the Las Cruces Downtown Mall in 1980 and the Arts Council became the organizing entity. Young Park became the Faire’s new home in 1983 and it has been steadily growing and changing ever since. The 35th year (2006) brought a name change – to the Dona Ana Arts Council Renaissance ArtsFaire. This not only connects the Faire to the Arts Council but also better reflects the nature of the artists’ work – it is not so much a “craft” faire as a juried fine arts show.
