COLOR LAS CRUCES will sponsor a two-day plein air workshop with nationally-recognized artist, Kevin Weckbach on Thursday, September 9 and Friday, September 10 in advance of the Color Las Cruces plein air competition on Saturday.
Tuition for the two-day workshop is $300.00 and includes two full days with daily demonstrations and individual instruction at various locations in Las Cruces. The deadline for registration is August 13th. Class size is limited, and open to students of all levels - any medium. A supply list will be provided upon registration and receipt of deposit of $150.00 – balance of tuition is due on the first day of the workshop. Refund policy: No refunds will be made after August 13th unless your space can be filled by September 1, 2010.
Denver born Kevin Weckbach teaches at Scottsdale Art Center and the Art Students League of Denver, and is represented in galleries from Wellfleet, Massachusetts to Texas. A graduate of Rocky Mountain College of Art with a degree in illustration, Weckbach has been featured in “Southwest Art”, recently illustrated a new edition of Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights for Micawber Fine Editions of Boulder, and has written “A VISUAL PALETTE: A Philosophy of the Natural Principles of Painting” available at Amazon.His work is very sophisticated in structure, brush work, and the way in which Weckbach leads the viewer with color. Yet the work has spontaneity and freshness and conveys much with simplicity. He is truly an exciting and talented artist.Kevin’s work will be exhibited in “Thinking About Color” opening May 28, 2010 at Gallery 1251 in Denver, along with other participating artists Scott Burdick, Joellyn Duesberry, Ron Hicks, Quang Ho, Dan McCaw, Danny McCaw, John McCaw, C.W. Mundy, Mark Nelson, Matt Smith, Jeff Uffelman, and Michael Workman.
